Mountain Horse Tent Camp Trips - Horseback Riding Camps

New for the 2012 riding season, Mike & Bobbi have created a nuanced variation of the current  riding trips Blue Sky Sage offers  - Mountain Horse Tent Camp Trips for adult riders only.

The jagged Wind River mountains are the backdrop to this spectacular country; framing the view for the Mountain Horse Tent Camp Trips are glacier-covered Temple Peak and Roaring Fork mountain, both at over 13,000 feet in elevation. The Continental Divide, nicknamed the "backbone of the Rockies" traverses within a quarter mile of the tent camp, and the Little Sandy river flows right by your tent. At the horseback riding camps ' elevation of 7200' , summer time temperatures seldom exceed 80 degrees and the nights are cool and pleasant. There are no snakes and few insects to bother you or the Horses during the days' riding or around the campfire.

Guests will find the same comfortable, full-service tent camp and the same great meals and activities as described on the Accommodations page for every Mountain Horse Tent Camp Trips week. Geared to all horseback riding skill levels from novice and intermediate, to experienced horse people, this fun-filled and scenic riding trip is, by design, more leisurely paced than the other Blue Sky Sage horseback riding camps, that cover more open country. More time is spent climbing horseback in the rugged mountain and foothill terrain, which often requires riding at a slower pace.

The schedule varies from day to day, but you can plan on breakfast between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. each morning, hitting the saddle by 9:00 and riding, with short breaks, until lunchtime. We'll noon up somewhere and have our saddle lunch, let the Horses graze and rest for about an hour and then we'll mount up and go again for a few more hours, with short breaks throughout the afternoon. Arrival back at the horseback riding camps home base along the river is between 3:30 and 4:00 p.m. just in time for cocktails and hors de' oeuvres! Depending on the days' riding and how many miles the group wants to cover, you can expect to be horseback an average about 5-6 hours and cover from 8-12 miles each day. Destinations on the daily riding trips may include climbing by horseback to the top of Prospect Mountain one day, then making the trek to it's sister peak Little Prospect Mountain several days later; both are moderate riding trips of 5 to 6 hours. Blue Sky Sage Horseback Adventures is the only outfitter operating Mountain Horse Tent Camp Trips in this vast, untamed area so you will have plenty of "elbow room" - just you, your Horse, and a few other adult riders make for one of the more intimate horse trips offered anywhere.
