Guys Ride Too! - Horse Camp for Men & Women - Horseback Riding Camps

Blue Sky Sage offers Guys Ride Too! weeks each season, for mixed groups of adult men and women or groups of friends/family who are looking for more than the typical "nose to tail" dude ranch ride. These rides are open to couples and individual men and women who prefer to be with a mixed gender riding group, and can be customized to some extent. Novice and intermediate skill level riders can be scheduled into their own horseback riding camps, and separate weeks are open to experienced horsemen and horsewomen, so that each person is in a group with other riders who are at about the same horsemanship skill level.

Guests will find the same comfortable, full-service camp and the same great meals and activities as described on the Accommodations page on a Guys Ride Too! week. Destinations on the daily riding trips may include climbing by horseback to the top of Prospect Mountain one day, then making the trek to it's sister peak Little Prospect Mountain several days later; both are moderate riding trips of 5 to 6 hours. Other days will be spent covering big country, traversing the rolling sagebrush plains, high desert mesas and draw, with long stretches where we can move out a little faster, if you are a more skilled rider.  Occasionally, we'll load horses up in the trailer and go out a little farther from camp to start the days' ride, to access a new place we want to explore or to re-visit some of our old "stomping grounds". Blue Sky Sage Horseback Adventures is the only outfitter operating horseback riding camps in this vast, untamed area, so you will have plenty of "elbow room" - just you, your Horse, and a few other adult riders make for one of the more intimate horse trips offered anywhere.

***********

The jagged Wind River mountains are the backdrop to this spectacular country. Framing the view for the Horse Camp for Men & Women are glacier-covered Temple Peak and Roaring Fork mountain, both at over 13,000 feet in elevation. The Continental Divide, nicknamed the "backbone of the Rockies" traverses within a quarter mile of the tent camp, and the Little Sandy river flows right by your tent. At the horseback riding camps ' elevation of 7900', summer time temperatures seldom exceed 80 degrees and the nights are cool and pleasant. There are no snakes and few insects to bother you or the Horses during the days' riding or around the campfire.

The schedule varies from day to day, but you can plan on breakfast between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. each morning, hitting the saddle by 9:00 and riding, with short breaks, until lunchtime. We'll noon up somewhere and have our saddle lunch, let the Horses graze and rest for about an hour and then we'll mount up and go again for a few more hours, with short breaks throughout the afternoon. Arrival back at the horseback riding camps home base along the river is between 3:30 and 4:00 p.m. just in time for cocktails and hors de' oeuvres! Depending on the days' riding and how many miles the group wants to cover, you can expect to be horseback an average about 5-6 hours and cover from 8-15 miles each day.
